Arweave Ecosystem Research Report
Introduction
Arweave (AR), a protocol focusing on decentralized long-term data storage. Since its mainnet launch in June 2018, the number of users and usage has increased exponentially. Recently, AR has gained a lot of flow and exposure through its highly matching features with NFT and correct operation route. The popularity of filecoin (AR is backward compatible with filecoin) and the explosion of storage sector also contribute a lot to the development of AR: take the developer community of AR ecology as an example, its community growth has a significant advantage over Ethereum and Boca, with a growth rate of about 300%.
AR is an innovative data storage protocol, focusing on long-term data storage with one-time payment. The successful implementation of the project mainly depends on three points:
1. Consensus mechanism POA (proof of access);
2. New data structure blockweave;
3. Economic incentive of data storage.
The first two points make long-term data storage possible and greatly reduce the burden of all node file storage. Data is stored in blockweave in a chained way. Whenever new data is stored, the network will randomly select and verify whether a previously stored data can be accessed normally (POA). If positive feedback is obtained, the new data will be stored, otherwise it will be rejected. At the same time, AR is completely decentralized, using optimized pow, without super nodes, and each node gets corresponding returns according to the storage capacity and file transaction volume.
If the first two points provide technical support for AR, the third point is to attract participants, miners and project parties for AR through economic incentives. The economic incentives of AR can be roughly divided into two types: PSTs (profit sharing tokens) and PSCs (profit sharing communities). PSTs are mainly aimed at users and project parties, that is, the owners of PSTs can get the service charge reward for each transaction on ar. PSCs are mainly aimed at the community, and the voting power of the community will be determined by the amount and duration of PSCs. At the same time, every vote of the community can cast PSTs, and then get the economic reward of PSTs.
Finally, AR’s official support for ecological projects, as well as the development of open web incubator (OWI) and open web Fellowship (OWF) programs, have made great contributions to the AR ecosystem.

Roadmap and Business Plan
Due to its high compatibility and good landing ability, AR has cooperated with several NFT projects, and has quickly become a solution for NFT casting, NFT asset and metadata storage
1.Mintbase began to add AR logo to NFT cast on its own platform;
2.Solvency, an NFT art project, will be launched recently, and its metadata and assets will be stored on AR;
3.The NFT project PlottedPunks will store its NFT on AR’s permaweb;
4.Art project dCanvas also began to use AR technology.
In the future, in addition to continuing to contribute to NFT, AR will also incubate a large number of core projects supporting its underlying agreements, and hope that these projects can develop for a long time, be based on community governance, and have an economic incentive model in line with AR Ecology (the economic incentive of the project is shared with developers and users). At present, AR ecological core projects include:
1.Ardrive — permanent Dropbox
2.Limestone — financial transactions
3.Verto — DEX
4.Gitopia — open source code base
5.Permabot — decentralized social app
6.fQRweave — Supply Chain Management
Official Support
- Community development. Including officially supported developer and miner communities.
- Grants and funding support for early projects. Currently active grants include weiblocked, weiblocked, the Arca Dao, arweave over HF, gitweave and archive grants.
- Arweave boost. Help quality projects grow and introduce industry leaders to them. The specific contents include: 1. 50 thousand dollars of long-term data storage space on AR; 2. Assist the project to show the demo to a16z, Sequoia, multicoin, etc; 3. Direct help from AR core developers and teams, covering products, technologies and users.
- Open web fellowship. Organize a large number of education promotion activities to provide AR community and project parties with opportunities to communicate with industry leaders.
- Other project incubation plans, such as open web incubator (OWI), etc.
